THROUGH HIS GAZE: three songs for tenor and harp (2020)
Through His Gaze is a deconstruction of three poems by W. B. Yeats, exploring the speaker's simultaneous adoration and resentment of women.
The set was commissioned by the 2020 Presteigne Festival, supported by the Musicians Company and performed by Bradley Smith and Oliver Wass at Presteigne Digital.
"Through repetition and emphasis, the songs cast a revealing light on the texts’ male
perspective, repeated phrase patterns emphasising their obsessive character."
